Wedding Photography FAQ’s
How long in advance should i book my wedding photographer?
There is no set time for when you should book your wedding photographer. But to ensure we aren’t booked out on the date you have selected, booking in sooner is better. We take bookings up to two years in advance.
What does your wedding photography cost?
We have photo only packages that start at $880 and go up from there. We also offer stunning albums, the high resolution USB, canvases and a treasure trove of other stunning photographic items.
How many photos do you take?
There is no limit to the amount of photos that are captured during your wedding day. We aim to take as many images as it takes to capture the’ moment, expressions and emotion of the day. We then take the time to edit and present the fully edited images in a way that tells the best story of your wedding day. This includes colour treatment and retouching.
Do we get two photographers?
It depends on the package that you select for your wedding day. The second photographer is there to catch the candid moments, plus help to organise group and family photos. Our second shooters are highly skilled and you get a very different and candid array of images when a second shooter is present.
Should I be worried if it rains on our wedding day?
No, not at all! Normally it doesn’t rain all day so we have chances to pop outside and take some photos. But even if it is raining during the photography time, we have taken some of our most beautiful photos in wet weather. You won’t be disappointed with the images, as along with the beautiful big umbrellas, everything seems to glisten and sparkle when it rains. Our photographers are also experienced in all weather conditions. We also have a wet weather guarantee, where if it rains all day long and you crave that golden flow, we can re‐shoot those special moments at a later date when the sun is shining.
Can the guests take photos during the wedding?
That is totally your choice! It’s up to you whether you would like an unplugged wedding where you ask your guests not to take photos, or if you would like to give your guests the opportunity to take photos. We love getting guests to take photos if that is your cup of tea, but we just ask they don’t crowd the aisle during the ceremony. Guests generally won’t accompany us during the on location bridal party photography.
How long after the wedding do we get to view our images?
We will put up an online sneak peek within days of your wedding, so that you can share a sneak peek with your family and friends. Approximately four to six weeks after your wedding day, we will invite you into the studio to view your images/album design. You then have the opportunity to personalise the album in any way you like.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes we do! We place an emphasis on this great chance for a number of reasons. One it is a great opportunity to get to know each other. You can also see how we work and what style we create for you and we can use the engagement session to create useful and beautiful images leading up to the wedding for invites or use at the wedding.
We have quotes for packages cheaper. Why would this be?
Other photographers pricing will be cheaper for a number of reasons. They may be less experienced photographers and are just starting out in the industry. They may have lower quality equipment. Papillon Studio has been creating amazing wedding images for over 25 years. The prices of our packages reflects our; experience, service, quality and time spent making magic with you.
Do you travel for weddings?
This is the day to celebrate your endless love and the day you create is unique to you. For this reason if you choose to celebrate your wedding day interstate or on the other side of the world we are more than happy to travel. We want to capture the memories you make anywhere you create them. We have travelled to France, Hamilton Island, the Hunter Valley, Melbourne and the Victorian High country so far and have bookings for Fiji and another Melbourne wedding.
Portrait & Engagement Session FAQ’s
What should we wear?
We find that it’s best to keep your clothing simple, so avoiding bright patterns, busy colours or bold logos. If you are doing a family portrait then choosing a colour theme works well so for example you all wear variations of light neutral colour, or you all go for a dark tone clothing That way the people in the photo will be the highlight rather than someone’s clothes. Also remember to wear clothes that feel comfortable and look sensational in.
How long does the photo session last?
This will depend on how many people there are for your family photo, but approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour for a family group session. An engagement session will take approximately 30 minutes
Can we bring our pets
We love to include fur babies as they are such a special part of families. We just need to know beforehand so that we can choose a pet friendly area. We would also love for you to bring special treats that we can encourage and reward them as needed.
What happens if one of our staff members is away on the day of our corporate shoot?
We book corporate sessions well in advance so that all of your staff are aware of the date. Unfortunately if a staff member is away we can reschedule the shoot or we can organize for the staff member to have a catch up photo session so that their images are included.
Do you have formal photography sessions?
We love to take photographs at all the special occasions in your life. We are regularly invited to pre formal events to capture family photos, individual details and friendship groups as well as the fabulous ride that takes the gorgeous ladies and gents to their event. Who doesn’t want to be photographed when they are looking a million dollars in their formal dress/suit with all their friends?
Maternity & Newborn Session FAQ’s
When should I book a maternity session?
We love shooting maternity sessions any time between 34-37 weeks. This way you will have a well-defined bump and look very pregnant but we also don’t want to leave it too it too late in case baby decides to make an early arrival. If you are worried about baby coming early we can definitely work in with your timing so that we don’t miss this special time.
When is the best time to photograph my newborn?
It is never too early to book in your newborn session. Please contact us when you know your due date so that we can pencil in a date. Then, as soon as you are settled back at home, we will confirm a date and time. We love to photograph newborns between day 6-12 while they are still sleepy, wrinkly and curled up. Although this timing doesn’t work with everyone and we can still shoot newborn sessions up to 12 weeks. We only photograph one newborn a day as we think the morning is the best time to capture all the newborn cuteness. This leaves plenty of time for feeds, changes and settling as bubby requires.
What happens if I need to reschedule my newborn session?
Babies can be very unpredictable. We like to pencil in our newborn sessions when you know your due date but are then flexible with date changes as we like you to be settled back at home after your hospital stay. If on the date of your newborn shoot you are unable to keep the appointment we can reschedule to another date as we know that newborns keep their own time frames and we want everyone to be as relaxed and well as possible.
